COVID-19 Vaccine Approved for 5-11 Year Olds
On October 26, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized an Emergency Use Approval (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric COVID-19 vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) unanimously recommended the administration of the vaccine for the 5–11-year-old population. Clinical trials have shown the vaccine to be over 90% effective in preventing COVID-19 symptoms in children. The COVID-19 vaccine is safe for ages 5 years and older and can be given along with any other routinely recommended vaccine including influenza. View resources for your practice.
