Dayton Children’s Hospital offers the Mental Health Resource Connection (MHRC) program, which connects patients and families to available mental health services in the community. The service is administered by social workers experienced in evaluating pediatric mental health needs and the services required to meet those needs. A child can be referred to the MHRC by their primary care physician or by self-referral. When a referral is received, the social worker ensures they address the patient’s specifics needs around location, insurance, age, diagnoses, and any barriers to care. The MHRC social workers are also available by phone for a provider consultation from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 937-641-4780. In most cases, consultations will be completed and resources provided in-hand within fifteen to thirty minutes.
