Welcome Partners For Kids New Medical Director
Gilbert Liu, MD, MS, has joined Partners For Kids as our new medical director. Dr. Liu comes to Nationwide Children’s Hospital from the Kentucky Department of Medicaid Services where he was the chief medical officer. He was also the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky Endowed Chair of Urban Health Policy Research and a professor in the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
In addition to his pediatric clinical training at the University of North Carolina, he completed a master’s degree in biomedical engineering and fellowship in medical informatics. Dr. Liu is passionate about improving communities and has a track record of developing programs that serve children and engage community champions. Dr. Liu and his colleagues applied numerous federal research grants to study neighborhoods, and modify environmental factors associated with chronic conditions of childhood. Dr. Liu developed collaborations with the medical school and university, public officials, city government, community organizations and a local school district.
Dr. Liu is working with Partners For Kids on a part-time basis until June 3. As of April 22, he will be available to assist Partners For Kids providers. He may be reached at Gilbert.Liu@NationwideChildrens.org.
