Zantac 360°TM is NOT Ranitidine
In 2020, all formulations of the acid-reducing medication ranitidine were recalled due to containing a potential carcinogen N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA). Now, the manufacturer of the medication Zantac°, which previously contained ranitidine as the active ingredient, has released another over-the-counter medication called Zantac 360°TM. At first glance, Zantac 360° looks like a new formulation; unfortunately, that is not the case. The active ingredient in Zantac 360° is another common H2 receptor antagonist, famotidine, sold under the brand name Pepcid®. Zantac 360° regular strength contains 10 mg of famotidine and is dosed twice daily. This is NOT an extended release formulation, despite Zantac 360° suggesting one dose works around the clock.
