Constipation Management in the Primary Care Setting – How Can Partners For Kids Help You?

If you attended the Partners For Kids quarterly webinar on September 9, you had an opportunity to meet the specialists of the Constipation Collaborative and preview the exciting resources they have developed for our provider network. (You can watch the recording here.)

Since the collaborative launched in the fall of 2021, the Collaborative has pursued advocacy for medication access and developed clinical resources. Through their efforts, Ohio Department of Medicaid expanded its drug formulary to cover the pediatric formulation of Ex-Lax (senna), a commonly used and well-tolerated stimulant for constipation management in children.

The team has also developed an algorithm to guide primary care providers in the initial evaluation and follow-up management for constipation and fecal impaction, as well as patient education resources. These resources will be added to the Partners For Kids website soon!

Please reach out to your provider relations specialist if you have any questions at PFKProRelations@NationwideChildrens.org for the Southcentral/Southeast Region and pfkprorelations@childrensdayton.org for the West Central Region.
