Improve Medication Adherence for Asthma Patients- Medicaid now covers 90 day supply of Asthma Controllers

Ohio Department of Medicaid and Gainwell now cover 90 day supplies of covered controller inhalers, the full list of which can be reviewed using the PFK UPDL tool. Resources – Partners For Kids – Partners For Kids

To prescribe a 90 day supply be sure to write the quantity as 3 inhalers for a 90 day supply, otherwise 1 inhaler will be dispensed by the pharmacy. It may also help to write a note to pharmacy that says “Please dispense 90 day supply of inhaler”.

SMART (Single Maintenance and Reliever Therapy) patients will require multiple controller inhalers per month and the grid below can be used to prescribe the right quantity per day supply requested.
