Gavin Baumgardner, DO, MHA, joins Partners For Kids as the new Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Baumgardner previously served as the vice president and national medical director for palliative care at Amedisys, a leading provider of health care in the home. While at Amedisys, he was responsible for developing value-based complex and palliative care programs for complex patients in the home.
Before that, Dr. Baumgardner spent 20 years at OhioHealth, serving in a succession of leadership positions. After starting a hospital medicine practice, he became the medical director of utilization management and medical director for OhioHealth Hospital Medicine Services. He then held positions as the vice president of medical affairs at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital and vice president of clinical affairs at OhioHealth Mansfield and Shelby Hospitals.
Dr. Baumgardner earned his bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from Westminster College and a doctor of osteopathic medicine and master of healthcare administration from Ohio University. He completed his internal medicine residency at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital.
In his new role as CMO, Dr. Baumgardner will join Partners For Kids’ executive leadership team where he will use his experience, passion and clinical expertise to support our mission to deliver the best outcomes for children throughout Central, Southeast and West Central Ohio.
