Dayton Children’s is partnering with Public Health, Dayton and Montgomery County on back-to-school vaccination messaging. As our community providers know, families must provide documentation of certain vaccinations to schools at the start of their child’s kindergarten, seventh grade and twelfth grade years. Unfortunately, the rates of children up to date on all routine vaccinations has fallen in the past five years, most likely due to the lingering impacts of the pandemic.
We are encouraging families to get ahead of this year’s school deadline by:
- Asking their child’s pediatrician or provider for their shot records now to allow plenty of delivery time.
- Making sure they are up to date on all recommended childhood vaccinations.
- If they are not up to date, make an appointment with their pediatric provider or their county’s Public Health Department to get their missing vaccinations.
We have also created a patient-facing website to provide information and resources on vaccination, available here.
We would love to hear any feedback that our provider partners commonly get during vaccination appointment or ideas that may inform future campaigns. Please share your comments and ideas via our survey link.
